Alex Neilan Foundation
Bringing people together to support wellbeing through community and charitable action
Who is Alex Neilan?
What is the Alex Neilan Foundation?
In a world full of quick fixes and short-term solutions, the Alex Neilan Foundation exists to do something deeper: build stronger, healthier communities through compassion, connection, and meaningful support.
Founded by Alex Neilan, the Foundation brings people together through charitable fundraising and community-led initiatives that support wellbeing especially for women facing life’s toughest seasons. From endurance challenges like Alex’s Tough Mudder fundraiser for UNICEF’s Children of Gaza Crisis Appeal (which raised £12,854) to local events such as the Edinburgh Remembrance Walk at Arthur’s Seat, created with Cruse Bereavement Support Scotland to provide reflection, solidarity, and comfort for widowed women, the mission is simple: no one should have to face hardship alone.
Through the wider community Alex has helped build, these efforts have contributed to over £130,000 raised for charitable causes, reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment to turning collective action into real-world impact.
Remembrance Walk
The Alex Neilan Foundation is proud to support the Edinburgh Remembrance Walk a gentle community event for women who have lost a partner, created to offer reflection, connection, and support in nature.
Organised by Sustainable Change in partnership with Cruse Bereavement Support Scotland, the walk follows the lower trail of Arthur’s Seat and brings widows together alongside friends and supporters, helping ease the isolation that can follow bereavement.
After the walk, attendees gather for refreshments and a guided reflection session, with time to share memories in a compassionate space.
Why it matters: it’s a simple, meaningful reminder that no one has to navigate loss alone community and movement can be powerful sources of strength.
